What is the difference between an escorted tour and a package?
An escorted tour travels as a group with a tour director, a set itinerary, hotels, most sightseeing and many meals included. A vacation package bundles flights, hotels and sometimes transfers or a rental car, but you explore on your own. Many companies also sell hybrids with a few guided days.
Are escorted tours good value?
Often, yes. Tour operators buy hotels, coaches and entrances in bulk, and the price includes much of what you would otherwise pay separately. Compare the included sightseeing and meals, not just the headline price.
How big are tour groups?
It varies from small-group tours of about 12–24 travelers to classic coach tours of 40 or more. Smaller groups cost more per person but move faster and reach places big coaches can’t.
